Privacy Policy — The Maker Dad Community

Last updated: June 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Josh Bailey ("I," "me," or "us") collects, uses, and handles your information when you use The Maker Dad Community (community.themakerdad.com) and any related services. By registering for or using this community, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, you provide a username and email address. Your email is required to send password reset emails, account notifications, and community updates. Your username is publicly visible on the forum.

You may also optionally provide a profile photo, biography, location, and website. Any information you add to your public profile is visible to other members and visitors.

Content You Post

Any posts, replies, images, or other content you submit to the forum are stored and may be publicly visible. Please don't share personal information in your posts that you wouldn't want others to see.

Purchase Information

If you purchase anything through The Maker Dad store, you will be asked for your name and billing address. This information is shared with our third-party payment processor (such as PayPal or Stripe) solely to complete your transaction, and is governed by their respective privacy policies. We also retain purchase records to fulfill orders and simplify future checkouts.

Technical Information

When you use the community, we may automatically collect basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. This information is used for troubleshooting, identifying abuse, and improving the site. These logs are not shared publicly and are deleted within 30 days unless needed to investigate an ongoing issue.

Spam Defense

To help keep the community spam-free, your email address and IP address may be checked against a third-party spam detection database during registration. If your account later posts spam, that information may be reported to the service to help update their records.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain your community account

  • Send password resets and essential account notifications

  • Fulfill purchases made through the store

  • Investigate abuse or violations of community guidelines

  • Improve the overall experience of the community

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising purposes.

3. Information Sharing

We do not share your personal information except in the following circumstances:

  • Legal requirements: We may share information with law enforcement if we are legally required to do so, or if we have good reason to believe that failing to do so would risk harm to someone.

  • Abuse reporting: In cases of abuse or violations of our community guidelines, we may share limited information (such as IP addresses and post content) with relevant parties.

  • Payment processors: Purchase-related information is shared only as necessary to complete your transaction.

  • Third-party connections: If you choose to connect a third-party service to your forum account, we will clearly show you what information will be shared before you consent.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information will be removed from our systems, though some content (such as posts) may remain in an anonymized form.

Purchase records are retained as required for business and tax purposes.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by contacting us directly.

  • Correct your data: You can update most of your account information directly from your profile settings.

  • Delete your account: You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us.

To make any of these requests, contact us at: josh@themakerdad.com

6. Cookies

This community uses cookies to keep you logged in and to support basic site functionality. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

7. Children's Privacy

This community is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us and we will remove the account.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will post a notice in the Site News & Announcements forum and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
